Financial Clearance

Financial Clearance

Introduction

Financial clearance allows staff to temporarily lift financial restrictions placed on a student’s account. This is useful in cases where a student needs immediate access to registration or Moodle classes but has not yet fully satisfied their financial obligations.

How to Grant Financial Clearance

  1. Navigate to Accounts > Student Financial Clearance.

  2. Search for and select the student.

  3. Choose the programme and semester for which the clearance will apply.

  4. Enter the expiry date of the clearance.

    • Once this date passes, if the required payment has not been made, the financial restriction will automatically be reapplied.

  5. Provide a reason for granting the clearance (mandatory).

  6. Save the clearance.

Revoking Financial Clearance

If you need to remove financial clearance before the expiry date:

  1. Go to Accounts > Student Financial Clearance.

  2. Search for and select the student.

  3. Locate the active clearance for the relevant programme and semester.

  4. Click Revoke Clearance.

    • The financial restriction will be immediately reapplied.

Important Notes

  • Financial clearance does not remove the outstanding balance.

  • It only provides temporary access to registration and Moodle until the clearance expires (or is revoked).

  • Staff should ensure students are fully aware of their financial obligations before granting clearance.
