Course Replacement Feature
Course Replacement Feature
The Course Replacement feature in iSIMS allows an institution to replace an existing course within a programme with a new course while the programme is still in progress.
This feature is typically used when the administration decides that a course will no longer be offered and must be substituted with an updated or alternative version.
How It Works
When a course is marked as replaced:
-
The original course is linked to a replacement course.
-
Students who previously completed and passed the original course are not required to complete the replacement course.
-
Students who failed the original course, withdrew from it, or did not attempt it when it was previously offered will be required to complete the replacement course in order to satisfy the programme requirements.
Purpose of the Feature
This functionality ensures that:
-
curriculum changes can be implemented without negatively affecting students who already satisfied the original course requirements;
-
students who have not successfully completed the original course are transitioned to the updated course requirement;
-
programme audits and graduation checks remain accurate and consistent.

This approach allows institutions to maintain academic continuity while supporting curriculum updates and programme revisions.
