The maximum length of the ID number in iSIMS is either eight (8) or ten (10) characters. This ID number is generated automatically when an applicant/student is entered into iSIMS for the first time. Each applicant or student is given only one ID number but different application number for each application submitted.

A – this represents the initial of the institution
The format of the eight (8) character ID number is as follows:
YYXXXXXX – the first 2 character (YY) represents the year in which the ID number is generated and the last 6 characters (XXXXXX) represents the sequence number. An example of this format if (18010203).
The ten (10) character format is as follows:
YYXXXXXXXX or AAYYXXXXXX
This format allow you to have 8 or 6 digits for the sequence number. If you are using the first two character for the initials of the institution that you will have 6 digits for the sequence number.
